Tillylinde, Natural monument in Großgoltern, Barsinghausen, Germany

The Tillylinde is a large lime tree situated next to St. Blasius Church, featuring a hollow trunk supported by numerous iron struts and bars.

During the Thirty Years' War in 1625, soldiers under General Tilly used this tree as a gathering point before burning down the village of Goltern.

The tree stands at what was once a medieval court location where the Seelze lower court convened in 1188 to handle regional legal matters.

The tree measures 10.24 meters in circumference and reaches a height of 13 meters, making it accessible for viewing from multiple angles around the church grounds.

This 800-year-old lime tree remains the oldest living tree in the Hanover region, maintaining strong vitality despite its completely hollow trunk.
