Villa Oldenburger Straße 49, Historic villa in Delmenhorst, Germany
Villa Oldenburger Straße 49 is a two-story neoclassical structure in Delmenhorst featuring a saddle roof and column-supported balcony at the rear. The building contains multiple spaces within for activities and community use.
The house was built in 1882 as a residence for Hinrich Emanuel Thyarks. A major transformation in 1909 under owner Johann Menke shifted its original Swiss-influenced appearance to the neoclassical style visible today.
Today it operates as a Family Center where visitors can experience programs for children, teenagers, seniors, and families in spaces designed for theater performances, concerts, and community gatherings.
The center has separate areas designated for different age groups and operates on multiple days throughout the week. Visitors should check ahead about specific activities and hours before planning a visit.
Inside the building sits a recording studio used regularly by a local audio newspaper service that produces content for people with visual impairments. This specialized use represents an often-overlooked community function.
