Posthalterei, Historical postal station in Syke, Germany
The Posthalterei is a former postal station in Syke with half-timbered buildings and contemporary facilities. The site includes a cafe with separate guest rooms and a garden area with outdoor seating.
The building originated as a post station where travelers and horses were accommodated during their journeys. After extensive renovation work in the early 2010s, it was transformed into a venue for cultural activities.
The site functions as a gathering place where locals attend exhibitions, concerts, and community meetings throughout the year. People from the surrounding area use the space regularly to connect and participate in shared activities.
The site is easily accessible and offers plenty of space both indoors and in the garden area with hedges and shrubs. Visitors can find everything needed for a comfortable stay, from outdoor seating to sheltered indoor areas.
The cafe is run by more than 30 volunteers from different countries who support the project on a non-profit basis. This international team prepares organic fair-trade coffee and regularly organizes programs for the community.
