Roter Turm, Medieval defense tower at Konstantinplatz, Trier, Germany
The Red Tower stands 30 meters tall, constructed with regional red sandstone blocks and features a baroque dome added in 1968.
Built in 1647 as part of the Lower Castle during the reign of Elector Philipp Christoph von Sötern, the tower received an additional floor around 1830.
The Red Tower functions as a bell tower for the Constantine Basilica and represents a central element of Trier's medieval fortification system.
Located at the intersection of Kaiserstraße and Konstantinplatz, the tower provides orientation points for visitors exploring Trier's historical center.
The structure survived the 1875 demolition of city walls through intervention from district authorities and underwent restoration after World War II damage.
