Thormann-Speicher

The Thormann-Speicher is a warehouse of red brick with large windows and multiple floors located in the harbor area of Wismar. The building dates from the 19th century and displays typical features of industrial architecture from that period.

The warehouse building was constructed in 1862 and played a key role in storing and distributing goods at Wismar's port during the boom in maritime trade in northern Germany. The storage spaces were central to the city's economy and demonstrate its importance as a trading port.

The building preserves its original exterior facade and documents the trading activities that shaped Wismar's growth as a port town. The red brick architecture clearly shows how important this structure was for handling goods.

The building is located next to the Old Harbor and is easy to reach from the city center. Today medical practices and various offices operate within the spaces.

The building was recently sold and will be converted into a specialized medical treatment center. The new use shows how historic harbor buildings are being revitalized today.
