Savannah Region, Administrative region in northern Ghana.
Savannah Region is an administrative area in northern Ghana with Damongo as its capital, spanning multiple districts. Grasslands and river systems define the landscape and support farming and livestock activities throughout the territory.
Established in 2019 following a 2018 referendum that separated it from the Northern Region, this area was created to improve local governance. The division aimed to make administration more effective and responsive to local needs.
Several ethnic groups such as the Gonja people maintain their own languages, festivals, and customs across the region. These traditions shape daily life and how communities interact with one another.
This area connects to other parts of Ghana through road networks, with agriculture and livestock farming as main activities. Travel during the rainy season may require extra planning due to road conditions in rural areas.
The region comprises seven administrative districts, each with distinct agricultural focuses and local characteristics. This internal diversity shows different approaches to resource management and development across the territory.
