Panachaiko

Panachaiko is a mountain massif near Patras with multiple peaks, led by the main summit Palavou Pyrgos. The range also includes the western peak Voidias and is crossed by marked hiking trails.

The mountain contains remains of ancient cities and sanctuaries, including the Salmeniko acropolis and medieval castle ruins at Pournarokastro. These archaeological sites show the long settlement of the area through different historical periods.

The Monastery of Eleousa near Pititsa preserves Greek Orthodox traditions on the mountain slopes. Visitors can experience the religious atmosphere and timeless practices of this community.

Two mountain refuges run by the Patras Mountaineering Club offer shelter and support for hikers. The best access is via well-marked trails, and warm clothing is important since the elevation brings cool conditions.

On Giorgi Vouno peak sits a large wind farm that generates significant power for the region. These modern installations are visible across the mountainous landscape and show Greece's renewable energy projects.
