Longos, Achaea, Village in Aigialeia Municipality, Greece
Longos is a small village in the northeastern part of Achaea, on the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, and belongs to Aigialeia Municipality. It sits along the shore of the Gulf of Corinth and shares a long sandy beach with the neighboring village of Selianitika.
Longos has been inhabited for many generations and developed as a coastal settlement along the route connecting Athens to Patras. Over time its population and layout have changed, but the basic fabric of village life has remained.
The beach shared with Selianitika holds a Blue Flag certification, which signals clean water and good facilities. In summer, it draws families from nearby towns who spend the day swimming and eating at the small taverns along the shore.
The village is easy to reach by car via National Road 8A and sits only a short drive west of Aigio. The beach fills up on summer afternoons, so mornings tend to be quieter for a swim.
Giannis Baltimas, a goalkeeper who played in Greece's top football league, the Super League, grew up in Longos. For a village of this size, that is a notable connection to professional sport.
