Lakkia, Village settlement in Thermi Municipality, Greece
Lakkia is a village settlement located at the foothills of Lanari mountain, roughly 25 kilometers northwest of Thessaloniki. The settlement has a central square, a football field, a professional training center, a kindergarten, and a special needs school.
The settlement was originally named Trahanli during Ottoman rule. After the 1924 population exchange between Greece and Turkey, Greek refugees from Dereköy in Asia Minor arrived and established their community here.
The three churches in town - Agia Paraskevi, Agios Dimitrios, and Agios Konstantinos - serve as gathering points for community events that reflect the area's spiritual roots. People here maintain customs tied to these sacred spaces, which remain central to local social life.
Regular bus connections link the settlement to Thessaloniki, making it easy to reach from the city. Local facilities are distributed throughout the area for convenient access.
Local farmers here are known for growing green onions as a specialty crop. Residents maintain the tradition of preparing protopsomo, a ceremonial bread made before wedding celebrations.
