Goudurix, Steel roller coaster in Parc Astérix, France
Goudurix is a steel roller coaster at Parc Astérix in France, featuring seven inversions along a track measuring roughly 950 meters. The ride reaches a height of 36 meters and moves at speeds close to 90 kilometers per hour through elements such as a butterfly and batwing.
The coaster opened in April 1989 as a Vekoma MK-1200 model and set a record for Europe at that time. During its early years of operation, it led the list of rides with the most inversions on the continent.
Its name plays on the French words for taste of risk, linking the ride to the adventurous spirit of Viking characters from the comics. Riders experience the inversions in a setting designed to echo the daring nature of those stories.
Riders must meet a minimum height requirement of 140 centimeters and the circuit lasts around 80 seconds. Anyone prone to motion discomfort or neck strain should consider the intensity of the continuous looping sections.
The seven inversions follow one another without a break, which was considered uncommon at the time of opening. Individual elements such as the butterfly and batwing link together into a continuous sequence of upside-down moments.
