Pégase Express, Steel launched roller coaster in Parc Astérix, France
Pégase Express is a steel roller coaster with a launch system located in the Ancient Greece section of Parc Astérix. The coaster runs on nearly 930 meters of track, reaching heights up to 21 meters and speeds up to 52 kilometers per hour, including an indoor section through a temple building.
Construction began in March 2016 and the attraction opened to the public in June 2017 in the Ancient Greece section of the park. The project represented a major expansion addition to Parc Astérix's offerings at that time.
The station draws on Greek mythology through its design and references the former musical signature of the French national railway company SNCF. Visitors notice these cultural touches while waiting and moving through the boarding areas.
The coaster operates with multiple trains and offers a mixed ride with forward and backward-facing sections. Visitors should expect average wait times, especially during peak hours at the park.
The ride travels both forward and backward in different sections, creating an unusual mix of riding experiences. Inside a temple building, projection mapping effects add atmospheric drama to intensify the experience during those passages.
