Épidemaïs Croisières, Water ride at Parc Astérix, France

Épidemaïs Croisières is a boat ride with sixteen vessels that transport visitors through scenes featuring statues and animated figures from the Asterix universe. The waterway connects outdoor areas with covered sections, creating a continuous journey through various themed landscapes.

The ride opened with Parc Astérix on 30 April 1989 as La Balade d'Astérix, built by Intamin. For the park's tenth anniversary in 1999 it was renamed Épidemaïs Croisières and the course was heavily reworked: animatronics were replaced by static statues and moving tableaux such as Astérix drinking the magic potion were removed. New automata and scenery were added from 2010.

The ride showcases characters and storylines from the Asterix comics through themed scenes that unfold as boats progress along the water channel. Visitors encounter familiar figures and moments that bring the comic adventures to life in three-dimensional form.

Visitors board the sixteen-seat rafts via a large rotating disc, and the water channel circles the Gaulish village clockwise. Children up to 1.30 m tall must be accompanied by an adult. The monorail circuit of the Pedal Car ride "Les Espions de César" crosses the boat route, and the scenic section runs directly behind the stands of the "Du Rififi dans la basse-cour" show.

The name Épidemaïs is a pun on the French "épi de maïs" (corn cob); this Phoenician trader sells his goods at dumping prices. Early Dutch translations kept Épidemaïs, later renamed him Verramsj, from "verramsjen", selling books at remainder prices. The ride was called La Balade d'Astérix until 1998.
