Château de Campagne

Château de Campagne is a castle with architectural elements spanning multiple centuries, featuring a north wing with an open gallery. The property includes the main building, outbuildings, a gardener's residence, and extensive parkland surrounding the structures.

The castle was built in the 12th century and underwent major restoration between 1854 and 1882. These works preserved its original medieval design while updating the structure for later use.

The grounds were designed between 1857 and 1862 by a nursery owner from Bordeaux, shaping how the estate appears today. The landscaping reflects 19th-century ideas about how aristocratic properties should look and feel.

The estate is accessible to visitors as it has been under departmental care since 2007. Allow time to explore both the castle and the surrounding parkland at a leisurely pace.

Portions of the castle date from the 15th century, while other wings contain additions from the 17th century. Walking through the building reveals how these different building periods were layered together over time.
