Château de Champchevrier

Château de Champchevrier is a Renaissance castle centered on a distinctive hexagonal tower that houses the main staircase and links multiple structures together. The western section features rooftop terraces that frame views and create distinct outdoor spaces within the complex.

A fortress occupied this site from 1109, but the current Renaissance structure rose during the 16th century. Alterations throughout the 18th century reshaped parts of the building and reflected changing tastes and needs.

Inside, you find furniture and tapestries from the 17th and 18th centuries that show how wealthy families decorated their homes and displayed their taste. These objects tell you something about daily life and values during those centuries.

The castle opens during the warmer months and offers guided tours through its buildings and surrounding gardens. Wear comfortable shoes since the tour involves climbing stairs and walking through different areas of the estate.

Since 1804, the estate has maintained a historic hunting pack specializing in deer hunting that remains one of the oldest in France. This tradition continues to define part of the property's identity and operations today.
