Limoges Cathedral, Gothic cathedral in Limoges, France

The cathedral features a north portal known as the Portal of Saint John, exhibiting architectural elements from the early 16th century Flamboyant Gothic period.

Construction of Saint-Étienne Cathedral started in 1273 after the previous Romanesque structure proved insufficient for the increasing population of medieval Limoges.

The cathedral contains a Renaissance rood screen from 1534, representing one of the few remaining examples of this architectural element in French cathedrals.

Visitors can access the cathedral between 09:00 and 17:00 from November to March, with extended hours until 18:00 from April through October.

The bell tower incorporates an octagonal shape within its Gothic structure, integrating the remains of an 11th-century Romanesque church with 14th-century reinforcements.
