Château de Fages

Château de Fages is a castle in Saint-Cyprien that connects two square pavilions through a central building. The northern pavilion features an angular turret, while the southern one is decorated with Ionic pilasters.

The building dates from the 12th century and underwent renovation during the late Renaissance in the 16th century. During the Wars of Religion, it suffered attacks in 1568 that shaped its history.

The castle was home to the Fages noble family and held importance in the region's medieval life. Its layout and construction show how a wealthy household of that era organized its living spaces.

The castle is accessible through guided tours offered during the summer months with hourly departures. The exterior can be explored, so wearing comfortable shoes for walking around is recommended.

A notable feature is the defensive walkway with arrow slits supported by decorative consoles. This blend shows how practical military elements were integrated with artistic design in the structure.
