Château d'Onet-le-Château

The fortress consists of three wings: a residential section in the south, a chapel in the east, and remaining ruins in the north section.

Construction began in the 13th century, with major additions completed between 1518 and 1519 when the canons of Rodez used it as a summer residence.

The castle chapel, which now functions as a parish church, features Gothic architectural elements and detailed stone carvings from the 16th century.

The castle stands at 540 meters elevation, offering visitors access to both the residential quarters and religious spaces within the complex.

During construction, local legend tells of mysterious forces that repeatedly destroyed the daily progress until a fire claimed the lives of two brothers.
