Pointe de la Gay

Pointe de la Gay is a mountain summit reaching 1801 meters in the Chablais massif with visible layers of sedimentary rock throughout its slopes. The peak offers expansive views across the surrounding Alpine landscape once you reach the top.

The Vallon basin formed in 1943 following a major landslide that permanently reshaped the landscape. This geological shift created the starting point for many hiking routes that are used today in this region.

The mountain huts at Tré-le-Saix show how shepherds and farmers have used these slopes and kept their way of life alive across generations. You can see how people work with the land at this altitude and maintain their connection to the mountains.

The trail from the Vallon parking area starts with gradual climbing and becomes steeper as you gain elevation. Sturdy footwear and plenty of water are essential since rest spots and shelter become scarce higher up.

The peak sits within the Chablais Geopark, an area with distinctive rock formations and rare wildlife including Black Woodpeckers. Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts can spot species here that are not found in the lower forests.
