Pont de la Seudre, Concrete bridge in La Tremblade, France.
The Pont de la Seudre is a concrete bridge about 1 kilometer long connecting La Tremblade with the neighboring municipality of Marennes across the Seudre estuary. The structure spans across a bay filled with oyster farming areas and provides views of the estuary system and surrounding shorelines.
Built in 1972, this bridge created an important transportation link between the region and the island of Oléron. Its construction fundamentally changed regional connectivity in the Charente-Maritime.
The bridge sits near oyster farming areas where local producers continue traditional cultivation methods in the waters below. Visitors can observe the characteristic farm ponds and the work of these producers from the crossing.
The bridge is accessible via the D734 road and provides direct access to La Tremblade's center and coastal destinations. On clear days, crossing offers extended views across the bay in both directions.
From the height of the bridge, visitors can see both the Atlantic coastline and the extensive network of oyster beds below. This vantage point reveals how the local economy is shaped by the waters.
