Tour W, Office building in La Défense, France.
Tour W is a 31-floor office high-rise standing 119 meters tall in La Défense. Its structure features a central concrete core wrapped in glass facade panels that form the building's distinctive exterior.
The tower was completed in 1973 by architects Delb, Chesnau, Verola, and Lalande. It ranked as the fourth tallest building in La Défense at that time, marking a key moment in the district's expansion.
The building reflects La Défense's transformation into a business hub starting in the 1970s, when Paris decided to expand its commercial center westward. Its architectural style became emblematic of this modern district and its role in reshaping the city's economic landscape.
The building contains 15 elevators and connects directly to the La Défense transportation hub. You can reach RER trains, metro lines, and trams from this central location.
Originally known as Tour Winterthur, it was renamed Tour W in 2013. In 2019 an illuminated Axway sign was placed on its roof edge, making the tower glow at night.
