Tour Majunga, Office skyscraper in La Défense, Puteaux, France
Tour Majunga is a 194 m office skyscraper in La Défense, Puteaux, with 47 floors and a flared, twisted form pinched at mid-height. Its glass and light-grey facade is a grid of rectangular panels with darker vertical bands; the name MAJUNGA appears in white capitals near the top. Seven stacked planted recesses cut into one side, and a 14 m entrance hall links it to the esplanade.
Unibail-Rodamco bought the land on the southern esplanade of La Défense in July 2006. Eiffage Construction built the tower from late January 2011 to July 2014, at a cost of 850 million euros, and it was inaugurated on 25 September 2014. Axa Investment Managers took the first eighteen lower levels on a long lease, while Deloitte occupies floors 21 to 39. In July 2019 Amundi Immobilier and a consortium led by Mirae Asset Daewoo bought it for 850 million euros.
The name Majunga refers to Mahajanga, the port city in Madagascar. The tower's interior design was created by Saguez Workstyle, which combined workspaces with living spaces and arranged the floors to encourage movement and meetings between employees. The building is certified BREEAM and HQE "Excellent" and BBC-labelled.
The building connects directly to the La Défense transportation network and has on-site parking available. It is a private office building accessible only for business purposes during standard work hours.
Majunga was the first tower in France to give every floor a loggia or balcony opening to the outside, and each office has openable windows. The facades are cut to hold planted terraces that help regulate temperature. The name MAJUNGA appears in white capitals near the top of the narrow edge.
