Ancienne manufacture des Tabacs

The Ancienne Manufacture des Tabacs is a former factory in Issy-les-Moulineaux built with brick structures arranged around a central courtyard. A prominent 45-meter chimney and stone administrative building defined the site, which has been partially converted for new uses.

The factory was built between 1900 and 1904 based on engineer Eugène Rolland's designs and succeeded an older Paris-based production site. The project reflected the industrialization wave that reshaped French suburbs in the early 20th century.

The name reflects the site's long association with tobacco production, a trade that shaped generations of workers. Today the preserved structures serve as a reminder of the industrial work that once defined this area.

The site now contains mixed-use spaces including offices, residences, and commercial areas located on Ernest-Renan Street in Issy-les-Moulineaux. Visitors should know that portions of the property are privately owned and access may be limited.

Metal fixation points used for tobacco drying remain visible within the renewed roof framework of the building. These details reveal production techniques that were typical of early industrial manufacturing.
