Course de côte Limonest - Mont Verdun, Mountain car race in Limonest, France

The Course de côte Limonest - Mont Verdun is a hill climb race course near Limonest outside Lyon with a length of approximately 2.65 kilometers. The route passes through urban sections with traffic lights and features an elevation gain of around 196 meters.

The first race took place in 1905 and shaped the region's motorsport history for over a century. Georges Deydier dominated the early years and secured multiple victories on the longer course of that period.

The competition serves as the final event of the French Mountain Championship, attracting drivers from multiple racing classes and spectators from throughout the surrounding area. It has become a significant date on the local motorsport calendar.

Visitors can attend technical inspections on Friday and practice sessions on Saturday or arrive on Sunday for the main competition with multiple runs. The course requires sturdy footwear and stamina since walking longer distances is necessary to reach different viewing points along the route.

The course is unusual because it passes through city areas with traffic lights and drivers are directed between turns like La Carrière by 25 marshal posts. This mix of urban infrastructure and racing track makes each run a distinctive driving challenge.
