Crey du Quart, Mountain summit in Valmeinier, France
Crey du Quart is a mountain summit located between the Valloire and Valmeinier valleys. Multiple natural lakes sit at its base, creating alpine scenery around the peak.
The slopes were historically used for farming, and traces of these agricultural activities remain visible on the mountainside today. This former land use shaped the alpine landscape over generations.
English mountaineer William Coolidge, along with local guide Andre Magnin, conducted notable expeditions in this mountain area during the early exploration period.
The easiest way to reach the summit is using the Brive gondola followed by the Lac de la Vieille chairlift for the upper sections. Both lifts operate daily during the main summer season and provide straightforward mountain access.
The mountain provides simultaneous views of both Valloire and Valmeinier valleys, with the Valloirette torrent flowing from Galibier visible from its peaks.
