Punta di u Cerchiu, Mountain summit in Corsica, France
Punta di u Cerchiu is a mountain summit in southern Corsica that rises 246 meters above sea level. The terrain offers unobstructed views in all directions and connects several hiking trails together.
The peak served traditionally as an orientation point for shepherds and local communities in the region. Over time it was recorded in geographic maps and marked a natural boundary between different areas.
The name comes from Corsican language and means "peak of the circle". From here, visitors notice the wide views over the southern coastal landscape.
Access is via marked hiking trails that lead up from different sides. Best conditions occur on clear days when visibility and weather are stable.
On clear days, one can see the Italian island of Elba from here, rising far away across the sea. This distant view makes the location a special vantage point for the breadth of the Mediterranean region.
