Sites d'émission de la Croix de Guizay, Television tower and antenna complex in Le Guizay, France
Sites d'émission de la Croix de Guizay is a broadcasting complex in the Saint-Étienne region with two towers of different heights. The Towercast tower stands approximately 67 meters tall, while the TDF tower reaches about 110 meters and is visible from the surrounding hills.
The site began broadcasting radio and television signals in the 1950s to serve the growing Saint-Étienne area. It transitioned from analog to digital transmission in the early 2010s as technology changed.
The transmission complex enables the distribution of 26 FM radio stations and multiple digital television channels throughout the Saint-Étienne metropolitan area.
The site itself is not open to the public, but the towers can be seen from various points in Planfoy and La Ricamarie. The best viewpoints are located on the higher hills around both towns.
Two separate broadcast operators share the same location, each running their own towers for different transmission purposes. This arrangement allows more than 26 FM radio frequencies and multiple television channels to transmit simultaneously to the region.
