Aiguillette des Posettes is a mountain summit located in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc area that rises to 2201 meters. From the top, you can see the Mont Blanc massif and the Aiguilles Rouges mountains across the valley.
This summit became a destination for hikers and mountain enthusiasts from the surrounding communities. During the 1800s, local people extracted slate from quarries scattered around the mountainside.
The summit lies within the Aiguilles Rouges massif above the Chamonix valley, near the villages of Le Tour and Vallorcine. Hikers on the Tour du Mont Blanc and local trails pass below it, and the slopes around the peak are grazed by livestock in summer.
The hike usually starts from the village of Tour at 1450 meters and follows marked trails through the terrain. The complete round trip takes about 4 hours and requires good footing and proper mountain hiking gear.
The summit lies entirely in France, near the Swiss border but not on it. The Pointe des Berons, 2954 metres high, rises about 3 km to the southwest, and the summit stands roughly 12 km northeast of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.
