Le Signal des Voirons, Mountain summit in Haute-Savoie, France.
Le Signal des Voirons is a mountain summit in the Chablais Alps rising to 1480 meters. From this point, views extend over Lake Geneva and the Mont Blanc range across the border.
Monks established settlements in these mountains during the 15th century and created the first mountain paths. These routes later enabled access and connection across the region for subsequent generations.
The summit forms part of the GR Balcon du Léman trail system, which connects multiple peaks across the French Pre-Alps. Hikers experience a route traditionally used by local communities to traverse different valleys.
The main route starts at Col de Saxel and follows a 4.6-kilometer trail with 230 meters of elevation gain. This moderate ascent is achievable for hikers with average fitness levels.
The protected Voirons forest shelters rare plant species within a designated Natura 2000 conservation area. Hikers pass through this special woodland habitat while ascending to the summit.
