Plage des Laurons

Plage des Laurons is a sand beach on the Mediterranean coast in Martigues, featuring fine sand mixed with small pebbles at the water's edge. The bay is framed by a longer coastal path that provides a pleasant walking route along the shoreline.

The beach developed as a recreational area during the growth of coastal tourism in Martigues in the latter half of the 20th century. Infrastructure gradually expanded to accommodate visitors and meet the needs of swimmers.

Regional festivals take place on the beach throughout summer, featuring performances of traditional Provençal music and local food specialties.

The beach offers free parking and shower facilities, with lifeguards on duty during summer months. There are designated areas for water sports where visitors can try different activities.

The beach maintains its natural character despite being located 300 meters from an EDF power station, which creates an industrial backdrop.
