Fourvière Hôtel

Fourvière Hôtel is a 19th-century former convent on Fourvière hill with 75 guest rooms featuring oak flooring and modern bathrooms. The property offers a heated lap pool, spa facilities with a whirlpool and Turkish bath, and an on-site restaurant serving seasonal French dishes.

The building was designed by architect Pierre-Marie Bossan in 1854 and originally served as a convent for the Sisters of the Visitation. Later it was converted into a hotel, fundamentally changing its purpose.

Each room honors a notable figure from Lyon's history through its decor and information panels about their lives. This personal touch connects guests to the city's past during their stay.

The hilltop location offers views across the city and is walkable, though the nearby basilica's elevator can help with steep sections. Comfortable shoes are worth bringing for exploring the neighborhood on foot.

The former convent chapel now serves as the hotel lobby while retaining its vaulted ceilings and original architectural details. Contemporary design was carefully integrated with these historic elements to create an unusual reception space.
