Geguti, Medieval palace ruins in Geguti, Georgia

The palace ruins extend over 2,000 square meters along the Rioni River, featuring a central hall with a 14-meter diameter dome on squinches.

Built during the reign of King George III of Georgia between 1156 and 1184, the palace complex originated from a basic one-room structure with a fireplace.

The palace represents medieval Georgian architecture with its four-tiered brick construction on a three-meter stone base, incorporating both defensive and residential elements.

Located 7 kilometers south of Kutaisi, the site includes a glass panel installation that shows visitors the original structure's complete form around the ruins.

Archaeological excavations between 1953 and 1956 revealed multiple construction periods using different materials including river stones, limestones, and various types of bricks.
