Goudi

Goudi is a residential district in eastern Athens that extends along the slopes beneath Mount Hymettus. The area is characterized by apartment buildings interspersed with hospitals and university facilities that define its urban character.

The area took its name from the Goudis family estate that defined the district in the 19th century. Military installations on the former grounds left traces that shaped how the neighborhood developed over time.

Former military grounds were converted into sports venues and hosted Olympic competitions. Modern sports facilities now stand on what was once a parade ground, marking a shift from military to recreational use.
