Khobi Monastery

The architectural complex includes a stone church with ornamental carvings, a bell tower with seven windows, and a white stone palace with arched openings.

The monastery dates back to the 13th century and served as a dynastic abbey for the Dadiani family, housing Christian relics including the Virgin Mary's robe.

The interior walls display frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries that demonstrate the influence of late Byzantine artistic traditions on Georgian religious art.

Located 3 kilometers north of Khobi town, the monastery functions as an active nunnery and maintains regular religious services for visitors and worshippers.

Archaeological excavations near the church revealed the remains of a 4th-century cathedral and evidence of an 8th century BCE Colchian settlement beneath the grounds.
