MOMus–Museum of Contemporary Art–Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art and State Museum of Contemporary Art Collections, Art museum in Thessaloniki International Fair area, Greece.
MOMus is an art museum in a renovated building at the Thessaloniki International Fair complex, housing a large collection of contemporary works. The gallery spaces are organized to display paintings, sculptures, installations, and photographs from artists of different backgrounds and periods.
The institution began when a private collector donated a significant art collection to help the city recover from damage suffered in 1978. This initial gift formed the foundation that allowed it to grow into a major art institution in the region over the following decades.
The museum serves as a gathering place where people come to see how artists from Greece and around the world express ideas through contemporary works. Visitors walk through spaces where paintings, sculptures, and installations reflect the way artists think and create in modern times.
The museum is located within the fair grounds and is easy to reach with good access to the surrounding area. Allow enough time to walk through the different exhibition areas without rushing, and wear comfortable shoes for exploring the space.
The museum contains a specialized library focused on art topics that visitors can browse to explore artistic subjects in more depth. Beyond the galleries, there is also an on-site shop offering items and designs created by artists.
