Agroksenmäen holvikellari, Historic brick cellar in Hermanninmäki, Finland
Agroksenmäen holvikellari is a historic brick building with a natural granite arched ceiling creating a large underground chamber. The structure accommodates various event formats with thoughtful layout and modern amenities including a kitchen and sound system.
The cellar was built over 150 years ago as a storage facility for a brewery and cooperage, holding products and equipment. After decades of industrial use, the space was transformed into a modern event venue in 2001.
The space hosts weddings, exhibitions, and community gatherings today, blending the heritage of an old production site with modern event culture. Visitors experience how Helsinki preserves and reinterprets its industrial past within this working venue.
Access is easy through a level entrance with clear signage for orientation throughout the building. The constant underground temperature keeps the space comfortable regardless of the season.
The granite vault was created by blasting into natural rock, leaving visible traces of the original extraction technique on the walls. These visible layers tell the story of the labor-intensive work required nearly 150 years ago.
