Buševec, Agricultural settlement in Velika Gorica, Croatia.
Buševec is an agricultural settlement located in the municipality of Velika Gorica, Zagreb County. The village sits in a rural area characterized by scattered farmhouses and open countryside typical of this region.
Ottoman raids near the border during the 16th century displaced many inhabitants from the area. These attacks shaped the settlement's early development and influenced its population patterns for generations.
The wooden chapel constructed in 1768 served as the religious center until the new millennium, with its dedication changing to John the Baptist in the 1900s.
The settlement is accessible by the Zagreb-Sisak highway, which connects it to larger nearby towns. Visiting during the warmer months offers a more pleasant experience as rural areas show their greenest character.
Following multiple destructive fires in 1900, the settlement established a volunteer fire department and later founded the sports club Seljak, now known as Polet.
