Originally named Varvaria during Roman times, Bribir transformed into a political center under the Šubić family rule during the 13th century.
The settlement contains remnants of a Franciscan monastery and the Church of St. Mary, representing medieval Croatian religious architecture.
Visitors can reach Bribir through the town of Skradin, located 14 kilometers away, with regular transport connections to major Croatian cities.
Archaeological excavations at Bribir have uncovered artifacts from multiple periods, including Paleolithic, Neolithic, and Bronze Age settlements in the same location.
