Kordunski Ljeskovac

Kordunski Ljeskovac is a settlement located in the mountainous region of central Croatia at an elevation of 333 meters (1,093 feet). The village spreads across approximately 12 square kilometers and is surrounded by forested hills and rural countryside.

The settlement originated in the Kordun region through the gradual settlement of local families over multiple generations. Names like Dakić, Kovačević, and Roknić became established in the area and left a lasting mark on community traditions.

The settlement features a church dedicated to Prophet Elijah that reflects the spiritual traditions of the local community. This place of worship serves as a focal point for the residents and shapes the character of the village.

To reach this settlement, you will need personal transportation since the rural location has limited public transit options to nearby villages. The roads are generally accessible, but the area is quite remote and far from major urban centers.

The village is home to only a handful of residents, making it one of the most sparsely populated places in the county. This extreme isolation gives the settlement a quality of being largely untouched by modern development.
