The settlement developed around the Žrnovnica River, which served as a water source and powered several mills, including a 600-year-old stone mill that remains operational.
The settlement maintains traditional Dalmatian architecture with stone houses and participates in regional festivals celebrating local customs and agricultural heritage.
The area connects to Split through regular bus services and offers basic amenities including stores, restaurants, and educational facilities for its residents.
The settlement houses one of the few populations of the endemic Adriatic trout species, which lives in the clear waters of the Žrnovnica River.
