Orlando's Column, Stone column in Luža Square, Dubrovnik, Croatia
The stone column features a carved figure of a medieval knight under the City Bell Tower at the eastern end of Stradun street.
Created in 1417 by sculptors Antun Dubrovčanin and Bonino di Milano, the column served as a place for announcing public proclamations and civil judgments.
The knight's forearm measurement of 51.2 centimeters established the official linear measure called the Ragusan cubit for trade in the Republic of Dubrovnik.
The column remains accessible throughout the year and stands near other major monuments including Saint Blaise Church and the Rector's Palace.
During the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the column becomes central to opening and closing ceremonies, with a flag hoisted on its dedicated pole.
