Dominican Church and Monastery in Dubrovnik, Gothic monastery and church in Old Town, Croatia
The Dominican Church features high Gothic arches, a pentagonal apse, and a southern portal modified by Bonino of Milan in 1419 with Romanesque elements.
The Dominicans established their presence in Dubrovnik in 1225, while the current monastery complex reached its final form during the 15th century construction phase.
The monastery museum displays over 220 incunabula, illuminated manuscripts, and extensive artworks from the Dubrovnik art school of the 15th and 16th centuries.
The monastery complex stands near the Ploce gate, incorporating defense walls that protect the eastern entrance of Dubrovnik's Old Town district.
The library maintains a collection of medieval manuscripts, while the museum exhibits gold and silver ex voto items from local noble families.
