Cableway Srđ

Cableway Srđ is an aerial tramway that connects the city center of Dubrovnik to the summit of Mount Srđ, spanning a significant elevation gain. The modern cabin takes visitors upward in minutes, arriving at a station where walking trails branch out across the mountaintop.

The system was first built in 1969 but suffered severe damage during conflict in the 1990s and required complete rebuilding. It reopened in 2010 with modern equipment, restoring access to the mountain for visitors and residents.

The summit station provides views extending to Montenegro in the south and Bosnia in the east, illustrating the historical crossroads of these Balkan nations.

The service runs during the warmer months with varying hours depending on the season and weather conditions. Wear sturdy shoes if you plan to walk on the mountain paths after arrival, as the ground can be uneven and rocky.

A Napoleonic-era fortress stands at the upper station, serving both as a viewpoint and as a shelter on windy days. Inside, a small museum tells stories related to regional history and offers another reason to spend time at the summit.
