Construction of the church began in 2011 on the former grounds of a bolt and screw factory, with consecration ceremonies held on August 4, 2015.
The church name references the oldest known image of the Virgin Mary in Croatian history, discovered in the nearby town of Biskupija.
The interior accommodates 700 worshippers, making it one of the largest religious structures in Croatia with extensive seating capacity.
The construction required an investment of 3 million euros, funded by the Croatian government, bishops' conference, and Franciscan Province.
