Oton, Settlement in Ervenik, Croatia
Oton is a settlement in the Šibenik-Knin County of Croatia, spread across the valley between the Zrmanja and Radljevac rivers. The community is divided into two main areas, Oton Polje and Oton Brdo, which together contain several small hamlets.
The settlement was originally part of the municipality of Knin before administrative changes reassigned it to the Ervenik area during Croatia's territorial reorganization. This shift reflects the broader restructuring of regional boundaries that followed the country's independence.
The Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Elijah, constructed in 1702, stands as a central religious structure within the settlement's boundaries.
The area is rural and dispersed across multiple hamlets connected by local roads and country paths. To visit, a private vehicle is recommended since public transportation is limited and the settlement is spread over a wide area.
Local families in Oton preserve their heritage through specific surname associations with different saint celebrations, including Atlija, Bjelotomić, and Višekruna.
