Balatonring, tor wyścigowy (Węgry)
Balatonring is a motorsport racing track located in Sávoly on the southwestern shore of Lake Balaton. The circuit was designed to be approximately 4.65 kilometers long with 17 turns to accommodate both motorcycles and cars.
Construction began in November 2008 with a ceremony where Hungarian motorcycle rider Gábor Talmácsi laid the first stone. The project collapsed due to financial difficulties during the global economic crisis, and the planned MotoGP race for September 2009 was officially canceled in March 2010.
The site today is largely overgrown and no longer used for motorsport events. It is located near Lake Balaton in a rural area that is easily accessible by car from nearby towns.
This was planned as Hungary's only dedicated MotoGP circuit to complement the existing Hungaroring, which was designed for car racing only. Years later, Balaton Park Circuit was successfully built on the opposite side of the lake and hosted the international races that Balatonring never achieved.
