Lake Hévíz Protected Area

The water in Lake Hévíz reaches a depth of 38 meters at its thermal spring source and maintains temperatures between 24 and 38 degrees Celsius.

Lake Hévíz became a protected nature reserve in 1993 as part of the Balaton Uplands National Park to preserve its thermal waters and ecosystem.

Hungarian medical practitioners recommend the thermal waters for treating conditions affecting bones, joints, and muscles through prescribed immersion therapy programs.

The lake features dedicated changing facilities, swimming platforms, and rest areas, with different ticket options available for three-hour visits or full-day access.

Scientists have identified several bacterial species in Lake Hévíz, including Micromonospora heviziensis, which exists nowhere else on Earth.
