Pentele Bridge, Highway bridge in Dunaújváros, Hungary
The Pentele Bridge is a highway crossing over the Danube that links Dunaújváros and Dunavecse. The structure has four traffic lanes and separate pathways for pedestrians and cyclists on either side.
Construction started in 2005 and finished in March 2007, creating a major new crossing over the Danube. The completion marked a significant step in improving transportation for the region.
The bridge carries the name of Dunapentele village, which merged into present-day Dunaújváros and thus preserves local heritage through the name. This connection to the past remains visible to travelers who cross it today.
This crossing connects the M6 motorway to Highway 51, giving drivers a continuous route through the region. The separate paths for pedestrians and cyclists provide a safe way to cross the river on foot or by bike.
The main span uses a tied-arch design measuring about 308 meters, which was floated into place during construction using eight barges. This method was a clever engineering solution for positioning such a large section over the river.
