Duna Tower, Office building in District XIII, Budapest, Hungary.
Duna Tower is a 60-metre, 15-storey office building in Vizafogó, District XIII, on the Pest side south of the Árpád Bridge. Its two glass-and-steel towers are named Margit (A) and Árpád (B); the seven-storey C tower is called Mátyás. Net office space is 27,600 m², and the 475 m² entrance hall was designed by an Austrian team from Skyline Architekten.
Construction of Duna Tower began in May 2004 with Market Zrt. as contractor, and the building was handed over in 2005. Its plot, bounded by the Árpád bridge, the southern slip road and Népfürdő street, had long served as the gravel pit and concrete-mixing depot of Vizafogó, later as a practice ground for the ATI driving school. The ELMŰ transformer station built at the bridge foot in the mid-1970s was kept and worked into the complex.
The two main towers are named Margit and Árpád, while the smaller seven-storey C tower is called Mátyás. Tenants have included Huawei, IBM, MetLife Hungary, Reader's Digest and Music FM, and the ELMŰ transformer station from the 1970s still stands at the bridge foot, built into the complex.
The site is bounded by the Árpád Bridge, its southern ramp and Népfürdő Street, on the Pest bridgehead's south side in Vizafogó. The ELMŰ transformer station built at the bridge foot in the mid-1970s was kept and worked into the complex. The entrance hall covers 475 m².
The central atrium connecting both towers floods interior workspaces with natural light from above. This design approach significantly reduces the need for artificial lighting during business hours.
