National Pension Insurance building, Administrative tower in Göncz Árpád City Centre, Budapest, Hungary

The National Pension Insurance building is a 73-meter-tall administrative structure in District XIII that serves as the central office for social insurance management in Budapest. The building houses multiple specialized departments handling pension schemes and social security services for Hungarian citizens.

The tower was designed by Dúl Dezső for the Szakszervezetek Országos Tanácsa (SZOT) and built from 1968 to 1973 at the Váci út–Róbert Károly körút junction. It initially housed the Pest County SZOT, its printing press and the pension payment institute; the Népszava editorial office and press later moved in. In 1993 the Országos Nyugdíjbiztosítási Főigazgatóság (NYUFIG) was created, and in 2017 it merged into the Magyar Államkincstár.

The tower's name comes from its tenants: the SZOT headquarters, the Pest County SZOT, its printing house and the pension-paying institute that moved in at the 1973 opening. The Népszava editorial office and printing press later joined them before moving on. The attached three-storey slab block held the staff canteen, kitchens, changing rooms and a vehicle repair workshop.

The tower stands at the junction of Váci út and Róbert Károly körút in Göncz Árpád városközpont, District XIII. Pedestrian access was planned from the metro station opened in 1984, while all service and goods traffic arrives from the Petneházy utca side. It remains an operating office building, so access is limited to official business.

The building once served as headquarters for SZOT, the state labor organization, before its conversion to its current administrative role. This change reflects how institutional functions shift with broader political and economic transformations.
