Gébárti Lake, mesterséges tó Zalaegerszeg területén
Gébárti Lake is a reservoir in Zalaegerszeg created by damming the Szentháromság stream. The water body has a V-shaped form with a depth of about 9 meters (30 feet) in the center, while the edges are much shallower.
The lake was created between 1976 and 1979 by damming the Szentháromság stream and was designed as a recreation and relaxation spot for city residents. The area was first mentioned in 1211 when it was granted by royal decree, with the original village of Gébárt located east of today's water surface.
The lake takes its name from the historic village of Gébárt that once stood in this area. Today, locals use the lake as a gathering place for walks and relaxation, especially on weekends when families explore the paths around the water and sit on benches.
The lake is easily accessible by car with multiple parking areas nearby, while a well-maintained walking path around the water is suitable for pedestrians and cyclists. The path is also wheelchair and stroller accessible, making the site comfortable for visitors with different mobility needs.
A notable feature is the photogenic bridge spanning the lake, which is frequently shared on social media and looks particularly appealing at sunrise or sunset. Additionally, there is a dedicated dog beach on the northeastern side where dogs can swim and roam freely.
